Kids Discovery Station, a newly established children's museum in Merced's central valley, faced constraints in both design site and budget for their outdoor exhibit space.

Landrec happily stepped in to provide a comprehensive turnkey design solution. Our team orchestrated a dynamic master plan, maximizing the limited outdoor space to include miniature renditions of the civic center, police headquarters, and fire station, offering an educational glimpse into local government. Alongside this, a whimsical trike highway provided a fun approach to teaching traffic navigation. Central to our solution was the creation of an interactive stage resembling the beauty of Yosemite Valley and the Eastern Sierras, featuring climbable sculptures of El Capitan and Half Dome, packed with interactive play elements. This blend of local government, landmarks, and an aspirational gaze towards the stars formed the crux of our design approach.

A unique and custom play exhibit that caters to children aged 5 to 12 with surrounding elements engaging younger children aged 2 to 5. Our design not only reflects the museum's vision but also creates an immersive space where both older and younger children can actively engage and interact, invoking a sense of wonder and exploration.
