Peter Schabarum Park

The Challenge

The County of Los Angeles had a vision for Peter Schabarum Park's playground: a natural play area seamlessly integrated in a grove, constructed from steel and concrete. The mandate: craft a dynamic space challenging for 5 to 12-year-olds, featuring custom elements, integrated fabric shade, and an array of gross motor challenges within a tree themed play structure.

The Solution

Our Landrec design team took inspiration from the surrounding environment, crafting a treetop adventure experience aptly named “Triple Tree Jam.” We fabricated three large columns that host a medley of rope obstacles, complemented by our bespoke hyper sails that provide ample shade for explorers. Children navigate nets, ramps, and rubber platforms, experiencing the thrill of ascending through a simulated canopy of trees. Our design extends beyond the treetop, we also created custom swings, a spinner climber, organic GFRC timber sculptures, and musical elements. All of these features seamlessly blend into the park's environment and provide a one-of-kind experience for the community.

The Results

Currently in its final construction phase, the fruition of our vision promises boundless joy for the countless children who'll explore and revel in the Peter Schabarum Park playground. Happiness awaits in this revitalized space, set to inspire and engage generations to come.
