Proven in the Field: Custom Slides People Travel to Ride
Gallagher Square at Petco Park — San Diego, CA. When the San Diego Padres reimagined Gallagher Square, they needed play equipment worthy of a Major League ballpark — sculptural enough to photograph, durable enough for game-day crowds, and safe enough for the youngest fans. Landrec was selected as the playground manufacturer for the renovation, collaborating with Larimer Design and Ground Level Design Studio to create a play destination that captures the spirit of Padres baseball. The result anchors one of San Diego’s most visited public spaces.
kidSTREAM Children’s Museum — Camarillo, CA. Inside kidSTREAM, Landrec fabricated a custom STEAM play environment where the slide is part of the learning landscape. Museum installations demand a different engineering conversation than parks: indoor clearances, fire-rated finishes, cleanability, and sight lines for supervising parents. Our stainless work met all four without sacrificing the sculptural quality that makes children run toward it.
Yorba Linda Adventure Playground — Yorba Linda, CA. This build was 100% custom, top to bottom: rope bridges spanning between giant industrial towers, a mesh tunnel climber, and a massive 26-foot-tall tunnel slide as the centerpiece. Every element was designed, engineered, and fabricated specifically for this site — nothing off a catalog page.
Every custom slide we deliver follows the same path: concept sketches in our design studio, engineering to ASTM F1487 and CPSC Public Playground Safety Handbook standards, fabrication in our own U.S. shop using American-sourced materials, and installation by our team. One accountable partner from napkin sketch to first ride.
Custom Slide FAQs
How much does a custom commercial slide cost?
Custom stainless steel slides typically range from $5,000 to $25,000+, with an average large signature slide running $25,000–$35,000 — and monumental builds can go well beyond. Custom plastic slides typically run $10,000–$20,000, and our standard slide products range from $2,500 to $15,000. Pricing excludes tax and freight, and every custom quote includes design, engineering, and fabrication.
What is the lead time for a custom slide?
A typical custom project runs 12–16 weeks total: 2–3 weeks of design (pace depends on client feedback), 8–14 weeks of fabrication, and 2–4 weeks for delivery and installation. Standard products fabricate in 6–8 weeks and ship in 1–2 weeks.
Are Landrec slides ASTM and ADA compliant?
Yes. All playground installations are engineered to ASTM F1487 and the CPSC Public Playground Safety Handbook, and we design for ADA accessibility requirements including transfer platforms and accessible routes where the site plan calls for them.
Can slides be installed indoors?
Yes — offices, museums, retail, and residences. Indoor work is engineered around building clearances, fire-rated finishes, and cleanability; stainless steel is our standard recommendation for interior installations.
Do you handle installation?
Yes. Landrec designs, fabricates in our U.S. shop, and installs — one accountable team for the entire project.
