Custom Slides in Any State: How Landrec Builds Slides and Climbing Nets Nationwide

Custom slides in any state start the same way. You need a section, a site plan and one team that owns the piece from drawing to first ride. In other words, a custom slide does not need a local fabricator. Landrec designs, engineers, fabricates and supplies custom stainless steel slides, plastic slides and climbing nets from Encinitas, California. We install them anywhere in the United States through a managed network of licensed contractors. Our clients span the country, and we serve all 50 states. Below, this post explains how custom slides get built when the fabricator is not down the street. It also explains why the distance rarely matters.

Custom Slides in Any State: Where Landrec Has Worked

Landrec has worked with homeowners, architects, landscape architects, developers and contractors across the country. That includes California, New York, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico and Washington. For example, the projects range from a single interior slide in a private residence to play environments for museums, parks and mixed-use buildings. In every case the client wanted custom slides built to their drawings, not a catalog unit. The reference work people usually ask about is in California. Gallagher Square at Petco Park in San Diego is one, and the play environment inside kidSTREAM Children’s Museum in Camarillo is another. Likewise, the process that built those is the same process we run in Dallas, Denver, Detroit or Richmond.

Those are some of the states where Landrec has provided services, not all of them. In short, the list is not a service area. We serve all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C.:

  • West: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming
  • Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin
  • South: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia
  • Northeast and Mid-Atlantic: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia

A custom slide in any of them goes through the same steps below.

How Custom Slides in Any State Get Built From a Distance

Every project starts with the same three things. We need a section or elevation of the space, a site plan or floor plan, and a conversation about who will use it. Then we recommend a slide type, a material and an elevation height. That first exchange happens by email and phone. It works the same whether the project is in Hawaii or New York.

Design development is where distance used to be a problem, so it is where we have put the most work. Your team receives submittals, CAD files, dimensional drawings and an installation guide early. As a result, the slide or net fits the structure from the start. Attachment points, floor openings, use zones and clearances are settled in design, before anything is fabricated. By the time shop drawings go into your construction set, there is nothing left to guess at on site.

Fabrication happens on our side. Normally, custom fabrication takes 10 to 16 weeks from an approved design. However, some products ship in less than 4 weeks. Installation runs through licensed contractors in your market, coordinated by us. You are never managing a slide vendor and an installer separately. One contract, one point of contact, one set of drawings.

What Different Regions Tend to Ask For

The requests we see do follow the map a little. In the mountain and lake states, the common ask is an embankment slide that follows the grade. For instance, Utah, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota and Washington all fit that pattern. Another common ask is an interior slide in a second home. The family wants the playful piece they would never put in their primary residence.

In Texas, Florida, Arizona and New Mexico, the questions are about exterior stainless in full sun. Shade, surface temperature and slides shaped to a pool come up in every conversation. In New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Virginia, the work is often inside. Think of a slide beside a townhouse stair, an amenity floor in a multifamily building, or a museum or library that wants a signature element. In Ohio, Missouri and Kansas we hear more from institutions and park districts. They are usually specifying a single play element for a public building.

Of course, those are patterns, not rules. A Florida homeowner can want a loft slide into the living room. Equally, a Minnesota developer can want a stainless tube on a rooftop deck. The point is that we have answered each of these questions before, in each of these climates.

Custom Slides, Nets and Play Elements We Build Anywhere

Stainless steel slides are the core of the work. We build straight, spiral, tube and wide-bed slides, interior or exterior, sized to your floor-to-floor height, stair or grade. Because they are 304 stainless steel, they can last 75 years or more. Where a project specifies a plastic chute, we supply rotomolded polyethylene slides that last 15 to 20 years. Custom climbing nets come in steel-core rope or HTPP netting. They go in as loft nets, net floors and stairwell nets, on their own or paired with a slide, and last 5 to 10 years. Everything meets ASTM standards for public, indoor and residential playgrounds.

Around the slide and the net, the pieces clients ask for most are timber. Our Wildwood natural play structures use sourced American timber for posts, stumps, balance logs and climbing elements. As a result, they read as landscape rather than equipment. They also pair with a stainless slide the way the rope forest pairs with the tower at Gallagher Square.

On a slope, for example, the Wildwood Summit Climber puts a rope climb up the hill. A Dual Summit embankment slide brings everyone back down it, so the grade does the work a tower would. For a vertical site, the Skylinez Apex Tower gives a slide its height and a net its enclosure. Climbing panels, climbing holds, ropes and custom stainless steel elements such as crawl tunnels fill in the rest. Every one of them ships and installs in any state the same way the slide does.

Why Clients in Every State Choose Custom Over Catalog

The alternative to custom slides is a catalog unit. Unfortunately, catalog units are sized to the catalog, not to your building. The run is too short for the floor height. Then the exit lands where the stair is, or the radius does not clear the wall. Instead, a custom slide is drawn to the section you already have. For architects and designers, that means the slide coordinates like any other specified assembly. Homeowners get a piece that looks like it was always part of the house. Developers and institutions get a signature element that photographs well, draws visitors and does not look like equipment.

Where the fabricator sits has never been the obstacle people expect. Drawings travel instantly. Meanwhile, fabrication happens in one place regardless, and installers are local by design. What matters is whether the fabricator can engineer to your drawings and hand your team a package they can build from. That is the part we have spent years getting right, for clients in every state.
